Our district funds the curricular essentials of our band program as well as a portion of its extracurricular components. School funding has become increasingly limited in recent years, and existing budgets have not matched increases in expenses. Our booster funds, raised through fundraisers, are now an essential part of our band program. These funds are used to cover expenses that affect our students, such as travel costs, contest entry fees, clinician fees, supplementary instruments and equipment, social activities, food and beverages for band activities, private lesson scholarships, technology enhancements, recording fees, and other miscellaneous expenses. In other words, student booster funds are used to provide our students with a band experience that goes beyond notes and rhythms and into something truly exceptional.
The funds raised each year for the AHS band program provides approximately two hundred young people between the ages of 14 and 18 with music and performing arts skills. The experiences are as varied as participating in the Eagle Marching Band, performing in one of two concert bands, learning choreography and equipment-spinning through the Color Guard and Winter Guard program, experiencing the sounds of world music through Eagle Steel, learning improvisation and jazz styles in the Eagle Jazz Band, and participating in UIL Solo and Ensemble Contests, TMEA All-Region Band and Full Orchestra Ensembles.
A gift to the Eagle Band Boosters provides general operating support that enables young people to benefit from these many programs. Your gift, combined with revenue earned from registration fees, fundraisers, and school district budgets assures the continuance of a high-quality, youth-development program for our students.
