SOLO/ENSEMBLE AUDITION INFORMATION
We encourage all students to learn a
solo and/or an ensemble. This is a fun way to learn a piece of music,
perform for people, and improve your abilities on your instrument.
Students are judged against a set of standards for a rating - you only compete
against yourself.
You should choose your solos and ensembles as soon as possible - the last day to sign up this year is January 19, 2007.

The first level for UIL Solo/Ensemble is the Region audition, which is Saturday, February 24, 2007 at AHS. If you choose to play a solo, be sure you mark your calendar - times will be assigned anywhere from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. A detailed schedule will be posted on the Current Event page as soon as it is available.
Students at the Region level who qualify will go on to the State Solo & Ensemble contest May 27-28, 2007. To qualify for state with a solo, you must receive a Superior (1) rating on a memorized Class 1 solo. To qualify for state with an ensemble, the ensemble must receive a Superior (1) rating, and at least one member of the ensemble must qualify for state on a solo.
Any solo or ensemble certified to the State level is required to perform in the Chamber Concert.
